The award-winning pianist Ivo Kahánek has structured his recital as a song for the longest night of the year; the first half of the programme captures the Advent dimension of this night, i.e., a path to light and a dialogue between two great 19th-century melodists, while the second half captures the night’s mysticism and darkness. And it will also be an evening of four different suites, of which Dvořák's Suite in A major exists in an orchestral version, while Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit is, according to the composer, an orchestral suite written for piano. The recital will also be a tribute to Viktor Kalabis, whose 100th birthday is being marked in 2023.
